Thirteen Reasons Why
Rating: 2/5 (a fad, with no real backbone)
Okay, I'll give you a minute to recoil in horror that you're favourite Netflix show is in fact a book. Recovered? Okay, good. I actually read this about three years ago and I only read it once. That's weird for me, because I'm such a re- reader. Actually, sometimes it's hard for me to even venture out and find new things because I hate change and love old comforts. Anyway, the reason I only read it once was because I disliked it. The male tone was clipped and boring and flat. There was no emotive response from me, even though I am so deeply empathetic and I actually cry at books and films. I could probably even cry at adverts. Truly, the book just didn't connect with me. I don't have anything against mental health and suicide and I think it had good morals for younger kids, but it was weakly written. Maybe, it was better when it got elevated to TV because the book was subpar.
